These are just some of the things being said about Robert Miller and his work but strangely enough, his career didn’t begin in Photography.
After school he attended Cape Town’s newest Advertising College, the AAA school of advertising and although this appealed to his creative nature, he quickly realised that this wasn’t what he wanted to do with his life and joined his father’s company selling DTP equipment to the advertising and printing industry. In 1995 he broke away and formed his own company and then in 2000 he co-founded Hamillroad Software – a software development company specialising in developing high end soft proofing systems for this industry.
2003 brought about big changes for Robert. The need to express his natural creativity led him to turn his passion for photography into a fulltime career. His knowledge of equipment and his technical ability quickly enabled him to become a highly respected panoramic photographer, both locally and abroad.
His love of lighting and natural beauty lead to an expansion of his focus to include beauty photography in 2006 which then snow balled into a career that has expanded to include food and product photography. This expression of his passion has led to him being honoured with various prestigious photographic awards.
In 2011 he teamed up with Nikon South Africa to run a very successful series of lighting talks and also welcomed sponsorship from Elinchrom and Lexar for who he is now a brand ambassador. Other projects in the works include a lighting DVD scheduled for release in Jan 2012 and a product lighting system that being evaluated by some larger players in the industry.
Robert is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is regarded as possible in his search for new and innovative ways to express his talent.
