Its winter, its cold, its Cape Town which means most of our clients have migrated to warmer climates or have gone into hibernation and the monthly bills have unfortunately not travelled with them.
This is something that many of us smaller business owners face evry year so this year I think it’s time to do something about it and that something is the Cape Town Creative Coffee club.
Many of us are able to work our own hours so what I am proposing is that every Wednesday from 9:30 – 11:30 we meet for coffee. You can come at any time in this window and don’t need to stay the whole time but remember the longer you are there the more people you will meet.
We will meet at a local Cape Town restaurants and build alliances, help each other’s businesses grow and at the same time support some of our local hangouts. If we are going to spend time on anything, it might as well be building our business’s contact base. I know I want to meet and get to know more of you and I am sure many of you also want to form new strategic alliances.
The idea is that we come together to meet each other, learn about each other’s businesses, find people we have synergy with and help each other with leads and find work. Yes you read that correctly, you are not there primarily to get work, but to help others find work… It’s a strange little principal called Givers Gain which is the fundamental principal of BNI, one of the world’s most successful networking organisations and believe it or not, it actually works. This is not a BNI event, it’s just based on a principal I have personally seen working.
To kick it off I want to keep things small so that we don’t swamp the restaurant, say the first 10 people from the following industries that respond and we will see how things go from there.
Industries that fit the bill are:
• Small Marketing firms
• Small Design and PR agencies
• Freelance illustrators, artists and designers
• Freelance brand builders and specialists
• Small Industries allied to the design, promotions, marketing and advertising industries.
If you are interested, we will be meeting at Arnold’s on Kloof at 9:30 on Wednesday the 6th July please RSVP by 4pm tomorrow afternoon (5th July 2011) on a strictly first come first in basis for the first 10 people to reply.
